Thanks headspace, for helping me secure employment.

Oct 1, 2024

Our young client came to headspace for Individual Placement & Support (IPS). She left with employment, financial stability and a smile on her face. Here she shares her experience.

I really wanted to gain employment so I could be financially stable. I have a dream to travel overseas one day, and I would love to save enough money to be able to do so. I was talking about these goals to a friend of mine and she told me about the Work and Study program, so I asked my mum if I could be taken to headspace for IPS support.

One thing that was just as important as gaining financial stability, was ensuring I worked in a better work environment – a positive work environment.

Upon starting my journey with headspace, I met one of my IPS support team members, Kate. She was great, she would pick me up and drop me off home so I could attend my appointments at headspace. She would also send me available jobs through Seek and Indeed and would check in and see how I was going with applications; always there offering support if I ever needed help.

My counsellor Mary was also really helpful. She would call me once a month to check in on me and see how I was going.

Through the support of both Kate, Mary and my IPS Support Team, I gained employment in a positive work environment. I now have financial stability and am on the road to achieving my goal of saving enough money to travel overseas.

Even though I have gained employment, Kate is still offering me support and help. My new job requires me to complete online learning modules, and Kate is helping me every step of the way.

Thank you Kate, Mary and the headspace IPS team.
