….and wear it purple we did!!

Friday 30th August was Wear it Purple Day, a day to highlight the importance of fostering supportive, safe, empowering, and inclusive environments for all LGBTQIA+ young people.

Wear it Purple is a volunteer-led and run organisation that focuses on creating safe spaces for rainbow youth in schools, universities, workplaces, public spaces, and the community. The organisation was founded in 2010 in response to global stories of real teenagers, real heartache and their very real responses. In 2010, several rainbow young people took their own lives following bullying and harassment resulting from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity.

Since 2010, Wear it Purple was co-founded by Katherine Hudson and Scott Williams and has developed into an international movement.

HOPE’s community is vibrant and diverse, so this day is an important reminder for you to come exactly as you are. HOPE dressed up in purple, made purple cupcakes, and spread awareness and knowledge around this incredible organisation.
